About Peter Dart

Peter Dart is the Founder and CEO of Dartahead, a marketing agency helping clients around the world. Dartahead has a design and content team in Athens and partners in many other markets.


His current roles include:

Flora Food Group – Group Brand Director

Whisper World – Chief Client & Marketing Officer

Royal College of Music – Member of Council

Royal Choral Society - Chairman


Peter is a global marketing professional with 50 years’ experience, having worked on many of the world’s most well-known brands in both the Corporate and Not-for-profit sectors.


He has worked for clients and agencies at Board level and led all aspects of brand strategy and innovation, brand positioning and identity, and a wide range of communication using both traditional and digital media channels.  He started his career in Unilever which he has worked with for much of his life. He went on to invent a Marketing Agency, eventually selling it to WPP, where he went on to work for Sir Martin Sorrell and then Mark Read.


He has worked in every significant market in the world.  He has a passion for smart, creative, amazing work.

Business Career

  • 2023 ongoing:  Founder & CEO, Dartahead.  Committed to providing our clients with the highest level of service and delivering exceptional results. Our core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability guide everything we do, and we believe in building long-term relationships with our clients based on trust and mutual respect.
  • 2020 - 2022: Arivia (Greece) Board Member.  Chief Growth Officer.  Advisor to the Flora Food Group CEO, David Haines, and Arivia CEO. 
  • 2001 - 2020: Global Client Lead at WPP where he led the Global WPP Unilever Team, and also advised many other clients. Reporting to Sir Martin Sorrell, then Mark Read.
  • 1988 - 2001: Entrepreneur / Founder and Chairman of Added Value Marketing Consultancy (now part of WPP/Kantar). Grew to over 300 people. Acquired by Tempus plc in 1999 where he became a member of the Board. Tempus was acquired by WPP in 2001.
  • 1975 - 1988: Brand Manager, then Marketing Director at Unilever where he worked in the UK, the Philippines, and Germany, where he was a member of the Board for 5 years.

Commercial Experience

Peter has worked in the following sectors: Food, Plant-based and Vegan food, Ice-Cream, Spreads/Dressings, Beverages, Homecare, Personal Care, Perfumes and Flavours, Petcare, Confectionary, Snacks, Telecoms, Banking, Insurance, Sanitaryware, and more. 


3rd Sector Experience:

In the last 20 years Peter has also gained significant expertise across the 3rd Sector, having helped develop strategy and brand campaigns for over 50 organisations, many of which he has served at Board level. The breadth of his experience covers Culture, Music and the Arts, Education, Royal Charities, Healthcare, Sustainability, and several other areas. 

 

Culture, Music and the Arts:

Royal Choral Society – Chairman since 2017

The Royal College of Music – Member of Council since 2015 - 2025

VOCES8 Foundation – Former Chairman & Trustee since 2011 

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields – International / Board Member since 2010

St Mary's Church, Wargrave – Director of Music since 2013

The British Museum – Former Chairman of the Marketing Advisory Group 


Education:

Education and Employers Taskforce, Inspiring the Future – Trustee for 10 years 2010 - 2020

Rhodes Trust – led the development of the 2017 brand relaunch

NCUB (National Centre for Universities & Business) – developed this brand

Westminster Grey Coat Foundation – former Trustee (2012 – 2017)

UAL (University of Arts, London) – former member of the Development Board 

Gates Cambridge Trust – led the development of the brand relaunch 

QE Prize for Engineering – helped develop the brand in 2011


Royal Charities:

Prince Charles' Foundation – former Trustee for 5 years (2013 – 2018)

The Royal Foundation, United for Wildlife, Invictus Games, Heads Together – developed these brands

EJAF / MenStar Coalition – invented the brand in 2018 and continue to be a Marketing Advisor

The Alzheimer's Society – led the branding for the Prime Minister’s initiative on Dementia 

Wellbeing of Women – led the development of the brand relaunch in 2010

Muhammad Ali Center – Marketing Advisor 2018/9

Mandela Trust – worked with Nelson Mandela to help invent the UK arm of the Charity

UK National Equality Standard (NES) – Past Board Member

Road Safety High Level Panel – Past member of the Advisory Board

RAF 100 year Centenary – advised the Brand and Campaign for the Centenary in 2018 

Blueprint for Better Business – advised on the brand

Education

Between 1972 – 1975, Peter studied at Oxford University where he was for 3 years the Organ Scholar of Hertford College.  He gained an MA in Physics. He is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM), an Associate of Trinity College of Music (ATCL).  Previously, Peter studied at Teignmouth Grammar School in Devon (1965 – 1972).

Personal Life

Wine: a passion for wine meant that Peter and his wife owned and developed Stanlake Park Wine Estate in Berkshire for 8 years. Stanlake has a large Vineyard, Winery and Cellar Shop, selling many different types of award-winning wine. 


Music: in addition to the many music organisations he helps, Peter is the Director of Music at St Mary's Parish Church in Wargrave, Berkshire, where he lives. Always on the look-out for singers and instrumentalists to sing or play in the Music Group. 


Family life: Peter is very involved in the family, particularly enjoying holidays and travel.
